Research - Third Eye Lid
Birds and reptile are known for having a third eye lid correctly termed the plica semilunaris which is essentially a sort of protective nictitating (or see-through) membrane. This will be a key part of selling the image of a shapeshifting reptillian when it comes to the eye-replacement effect.
